New accounts
When you sign up, a welcome bot sends you a short message with a word to reply with. If you don't reply within 24 hours, the account is blocked, and it's deleted 7 days later. This keeps automated sign-ups out.
Don't sign up from a data center, hosting, VPN or Tor address. Almost all spam bots sign up that way, so these accounts get a warning and may be banned. If that's how you connect, for example because you use a VPN for privacy, contact the admin and say so, so we know you're a real person.
Your data and your account
Your messages are stored on the server so all your devices stay in sync. End-to-end encrypted messages stay encrypted there, and the server can't read them. Uploaded files are deleted automatically after 28 days.
You can delete your account at any time, from your chat app, or on the web at chatrix.eu/user/delete/. This removes your data from the server, including your uploaded files.
You can ask the admin for a copy of your data: your contacts, profile and the messages the server keeps. You get a download link in your chat app, valid for a day.
To keep spammers out, the IP address you sign up from may be looked up at AbuseIPDB, a public database of addresses used for spam and attacks. Only the admin sees the result.
To deal with spam and abuse, the admin can look at an account's metadata: when it was created, the IP addresses it connects from (the one from its first login is kept for 30 days), its contacts, and how many messages it sent and received, and to how many people. Never what the messages say.
Breaking the rules
Minor problems get a warning first. Serious ones mean the account is removed straight away. Accounts that message many people who don't know them may be suspended automatically.
Reporting abuse
Email admin@chatrix.one with the account name and screenshots of what happened. Deliberately false reports count as abuse.
